The beauty of first light

For this painting, I was inspired by the morning light of my drive home into Toronto after working an overnight shift that ended at 5:00 AM. The sunrise was so beautiful, I was overcome by a need to paint it and capture my experience. This painting uses acrylic paint and a sponging/paper smudging technique to achieve a dream like quality to the sky.
